American Guinea Hogs are a rare Heritage Breed as defined by The Livestock Conservancy. These small, black, cold hardy hogs are super easy keepers, excellent foragers and pasture grazers. They enjoy grass, weeds, kitchen scraps, fruits, vegetables, acorns, grains and eat hay. Known as a lard pig they fatten easily, requiring little grain—do not overfeed. A thrifty hog to raise; friendly, with a docile nature, good with people, most pets & farm animals. Piglet Photos

Our Crowover Farm hogs are humanely raised, free to range and roam in an ordinary way. The quality of life they enjoy is an important ingredient in our meat. We feed produce, vegetables from our farm, small amounts of grain/feed and free choice hay/haylage. Mature (15-24 months) live weights average between approximately 100-250lbs.

Many thanks to all of the dedicated people who have been involved in bringing this breed back from near extinction; their current status is “threatened” (from “critical”). Once industrial meat operations made factory pork commercially available the genetics of this small homestead hog were almost lost forever. American Guinea Hogs are a favorite and ideal homestead pig!
